Just my luck...

Hi all!
As you all know, I got a Scottish virus the first night I was here and I have been bedridden ever since. Julie got me some lycozade in hopes that it would make me feel better, but it didn't. Lycozade is a bitter-sweet tasting drink that is supposed to give you energy; Julie said that when she was a little kid her mother used to give it to her when she was sick. The other day I went to the doctor (if that's what you want to call it). It was a clinic that had many different wings and was apparently only for foreigners. Initially, they were not going to treat me because I didn't have an international student card. However, Kevan and his wife (sweetest people EVER) took care of it for me and even offered for me to stay at their home if I wasn't feeling better. Oh, and Kevan let me sit in the front seat of his car on the way to the doctor...this whole backwards road system is so cool!

We were hoping that this would only be a 24 hour thing, but unfortunately it was not. I wish I had some cool pictures to post, but unfortunately my only view for these past few days has been a white wall in my hotel room.

I really appreciate all the love and support from the community! Those of you who have been writing on my facebook wall or texting me: you have no idea how good it made me feel to know that I have all of your support even though I am overseas. I love our little Pre-Med family :)

It looks as though I will be flying back to Connecticut tomorrow so I can see my doctors and figure out what is going on with me before things get worse. I feel so guilty because I feel like I wasted this great experience, though it was completely out of my control.

Once again, thank you all for your support and I will be seeing you sooner than later!

P.S. DON'T FORGET TO ENROLL IN CLASSES BEFORE ITS TOO LATE...hehe

Love,
Shayna

Day 3 in Glasgow

My roomie Shaynie still isn't feeling well. Today I went to the GCU chemistry tutorial. Their teacher John is so hilarious, that class was so much fun. They laughed at how huge our chemistry books are. If our chemistry teacher is reading this with you, I hope she knows Shayna and I are stressing over this Chem test. After I studied for a little and fell asleep with the book on my lap, I went with Simon and Stephen to The Kelvingrove Museum. It was fascinating, I'll post pictures. Also I tried to give shayna food but she wasn't able to eat. I ate some McDonald's but their burgers are flat, like squished.

Day 2 in Glasgow

Hey guys, so today is the second day of our trip and its been a little crazy so far. As some of you may know, Shayna isnt feeling too well , she has a case of the stomach virus so she has been catching up on some rest and trying to eat as much as she can. Today I attended GCU physiology lab. Their labs are a bit more fun and more hands on than our labs. I took a video of the labs and their cool moving bookshelves. Once the labs were over we went to the anatomy museum. On the way they took me to Greggs (a pastry shop) where Simon bought me a sausage roll. They are amazing!!!!! Then we took the subway, which is way smaller than the T and headed over to Glasgow University. I took a few pictures in the university where they shot parts of the Harry Potter movies. We went to the anatomy museum but I was not allowed to take any pictures -_- After the museum, I came back to the hotel and took a nap. After the nap we went to an Indian restaurant that Mr. Art Mabbat took us all too. The food was delicious. Now I'm just hanging out and trying to put a few english classes in my shopping cart. See you guys soon!

Here's a few pictures and a video of our first night here in Scotland (:         Shayna dancing in a video

First night

Hi everyone! Tonight chichi and I went out to get some dinner and then did some exploring. They celebrate Xmas here a lot earlier than at home so everyone's in the spirit and it's great! Upon our adventure I danced with a man playing guitar (awkwardly). Then we made a friend with some guy who serenaded us with some free style rap and his friend asked chichi for a kiss! Right after she denied him, who but Kirsten randomly comes out of the train station to our rescue! We walked around with her for a bit and now were back at the hotel. Kirsten and Megan are picking us up at nine for a walking tour of GCU and then were visiting the anatomy museum (I'm so excited!)

That's about all there is to say for now, adios!

Love always,
Shayna

Trip to the airport

Hello alll! We are currently in Logan Airport. This morning was hectic. Shayna luckily packed her suitcase efficiently while I threw all of my life belonging's into mine. As we were walking in, the handle of my suitcase broke on me and made me very grumpy. Then we ended up at the wrong terminal and went through a maze to get to where we needed to be. Picture little me, lugging around a 50 pound suitcase while Shayna and Monika were trying to calm me down. We ran through the airport thinking we would be late and now we've been sitting her in the same spot for hours. On the bright side we got dunkin and wendys!!! The lady messed up our coffees and a guy just tried hitting on Shayna through burger humor (: I am going to take a nap, goodnight, goodmorning, whatever you want to call it lol.
